Hani Al-Dhabit (Arabic: هاني الضابط) (born October 15, 1979 in Salalah, Oman) is an Omani football striker currently playing for Dhofar S.C.S.C.. He played for the Oman national football team between 1998 and 2008, and was captain in 2002 and 2003. His most successful season for the national team was during 2001–02 and he was the world's leading goalscorer in international matches in 2001.[1]

Despite his young age, Hani scored a goal in the Bahraini net.
In the 2002 Gulf Cup, Al-Dhabit played outstandingly, scoring a hat-trick on 9-time competition winners, Kuwait leaving one of the most successful teams in West Asian football history stunned. He also netted in a goal on Qatar, and another on Bahrain as well. At the end of the competition he was top scorer and was awarded the Top Goal Scorer with a total of 5 goals.[2]
Although not being successful in scoring any goals in either competition, Hani Al-Dhabit still made many appearances, and was handed the captain's band once again in the 2003 edition. In this time Al-Dhabit led Oman to its most successful position ever yet in the Gulf Cup competition, reaching the final 4 round for the first time.
During the 2004 Gulf Cup of Nations, Hani was not assigned captaincy by Czech coach, Milan Macala. During the 2004 Gulf Cup he was featured widely as a substitute, but still received an adequate amount of playing time, and scored in a goal in the penalty-kick shootout during the final in which Oman lost to the hosts, Qatar.
During the AFC qualifications for the World Cup in Korea/Japan, Oman was once again attempting to qualify for its first World Cup appearance. During the qualifications, Oman had scored some of the most goals in the shortest period of time, with the largest margin wins in the team's history. Scoring many of the goals was the brilliant, Hani Al-Dhabit.
After eventually being knocked out of qualification, Hani had scored a total of 10 goals in 4 matches out of the 12 matches Oman had played.[3][4][5] In one match Al-Dhabit was on the brink of a double hat trick, but had no luck. At the end of the year, Al-Dhabit was awarded the 2001 Top Goal Scorer with a total of 22 international goals,[6] beating Spain's Raúl, England's Michael Owen, and Portugal's Luís Figo, becoming the first Omani, and only third Arab, to win the title.[7]
Hani Al-Dhabit is a long-time veteran of the most successful team in Oman, Dhofar F.C. and has been on the squad for over 10 years. He is the de facto captain of Dhofar and wears the number 14 jersey, as he had previously worn throughout his career on the national team.
He has had a few spells out of Oman, in Kuwait, and in Qatar, but ultimately he stayed in The Sultanate.
